The service

redpen.review provides AI-assisted critical feedback on academic manuscripts to help researchers improve their work before submission. A full description of how the service works, and its founding principles, is available on the About page.

By using redpen.review you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.

Accounts

You must create an account to use redpen.review. You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account. Please use a strong password and do not share your login credentials.

You may delete your account at any time using the contact form below.

Payments and balance

Your balance does not expire. There are no subscriptions or recurring charges.

Pricing is shown on the website at the time of purchase. We may change prices for future purchases; balance already purchased are not affected.

Refunds. If a review fails due to a technical error on our side, balance are automatically refunded to your account. We do not offer refunds for balance where a review was successfully delivered.

Payment processing is handled by Stripe. We do not store your card details. For payment data handling, see our Privacy Policy.

Nature of the review

Reviews generated by redpen.review are AI-assisted guidance intended to support your development as a researcher. They are not professional peer review, editorial assessment, or advice of any kind.

AI can make mistakes. The review may contain errors, misinterpretations, or suggestions inappropriate for your field or target journal. You should treat the feedback as you would advice from a knowledgeable colleague: consider it thoughtfully, question anything that does not seem right, and make your own decisions about what to act on. Your judgement as the researcher always comes first.

redpen.review accepts no liability for decisions made on the basis of review feedback, including submission decisions, manuscript changes, or research outcomes.

Your content and academic integrity

You retain full ownership of any manuscripts you submit. We do not claim any rights over your work.

You must only submit manuscripts for which you have appropriate rights. Do not submit another researcher's work without their explicit permission.

You are responsible for understanding and complying with the academic integrity policies of your institution and any journals you submit to. Using redpen.review to receive critical feedback is consistent with standard academic development practice, but policies vary and it is your responsibility to check.

Acceptable use

You agree not to use redpen.review to:

• Submit content that infringes the intellectual property rights of others
• Attempt to reverse-engineer or extract the review system or its prompts
• Use automated tools to make bulk requests without permission
• Attempt to circumvent the payment system
• Submit harmful or illegal content

We reserve the right to suspend accounts that violate these terms.

Availability

We aim to keep redpen.review available at all times but cannot guarantee uninterrupted service. We may carry out maintenance or updates that temporarily affect availability. We reserve the right to change, suspend, or discontinue any part of the service with reasonable notice.

Limitation of liability

redpen.review is provided on an "as is" basis. We make no warranties about the accuracy, reliability, or fitness for purpose of the reviews generated. Our total liability for any claim shall not exceed the value of balance you have purchased in the 12 months preceding the claim.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
